Dawn

The night smothered you,
With the smoke that rose above,
The burnt remains
Of your tender heart.

Now…
Now, your lungs ache,
Your guts lie,
Tied in knots,
Churning,
Wringing your life out of you.

Coiled like a foetus,
Drenched in tears,
Is that you?
Who carved these scars
Deep… in the tenders of your skin.
Is that a memoir
To your unworthy sin?

Pulling your hair,
Clenching your jaw,
Is that you?
Who strangled that beauty,
Over the rotting remains,
Of the fantasy of a paradise?

I know…
I know my friend,
You’ve waited for the dawn…
Like the staunch nightingale,
Waits for the last of the amber,
To fade away.

Don’t you fall prey,
To your bouts of fear!
Don’t you dare concede,
To the taunts,
Blurted by the deadly demons,
Of your crippling anxiety…!

For…
The dawn mustn’t shine
On your grave….

  1. The meaning behind it is very basic and simple I believe. But the way you use words always affects me. It’s really sort of inspirational too in a way. The dawn musn’t shine on you 💙💙💙. Awesome 😍😍.

It sounds like somebody is beating themselves up over something that means nothing the bigger picture. Really, all of it will pass. The questions is whether you remain alive or not when it does…

    1. Absolutely! I love how you capture the essence of the piece so beautifully, every time! That’s exactly what I was trying to convey! When we are at the rock bottom, we lose sight of the bigger picture. It is in moments like those that we need to believe in statement, “the best is yet to come” and strive to live that best ❤️
Thank you so much for reading!❣️

  3. This is extremely beautiful dear Gauri! Especially the end line “the dawn mustn’t shine on your grave”
We should fight the darkness inside us I guess and despite the scars we can always shine bright and overcome the darkness
    👍👍 great piece

  4. Hello there! Quick question that’s totally off topic. Do you know how to make your site mobile friendly? My website looks weird when viewing from my iphone4. I’m trying to find a theme or plugin that might be able to correct this issue. If you have any recommendations, please share. Appreciate it!
